"Deep ruby red/purple color. Classic, deep aromas of cassis, graphite and fresh earth with a suggestion of truffle and espresso and a subtle edge of bay leaf complexity. Immediately full and generous in the mouth with wave upon wave of ripe cassis, wild huckleberry and black cherry fruit. Textured, weighty yet also supple, there's a sense of building richness that is buffered by a firm base of youthful broad tannin on a mocha-infused finish. Maintains a beautiful thread of floral inner-mouth perfume from entry to finish.

This is a beautiful wine from an extremely low yielding, small berry year that features an 'essence-of-Larkmead' character and promises to offer great drinking for years to come. Densely-packed with wonderful vineyard purity, the wine blossoms and builds in the glass from earthy and mineral to pure fruit exuberance, yet never loses focus or veers to the overblown. On opening there are elements of Bordeaux-like mineral austerity but with aeration the fruit and texture take control and I expect it to develop great in-bottle complexity over the next ten to twelve years. Despite its inherent generosity, don't be in a rush to exhaust your supply because I think this wine will offer increasingly dramatic drinking pleasures ahead."

"The 2008 LMV Salon is composed of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 9% Merlot, 9% Malbec and 9% Petit Verdot and is aged in a slightly higher percentage of new French oak (75%). It is the most restrained and austere wine in this portfolio, but it remains an elegant effort displaying hints of smoke, damp earth and tobacco leaf, moderate tannins and a pure style. It can be drunk now or cellared for 15+ years."
