"We think B.C. Solari would be pleased. And B.C. Solari was a hard man to please."
~ Back label, Larkmead Cabernet Sauvignon - 1984
Larry (B.C.) and Polly Solari decided to sell the stone winery building in 1952, keeping the 150 acre Estate. At this point they focused wholly on the vineyards, selling grapes to many of Napa Valley's greatest wineries. Larkmead did make wine occasionally but only a few precious bottles remain in the winery cellar from this era. After Larry's death in 1984 the family carried on his steadfast commitment to the Estate, first as a grower of premium grapes, and more recently by once again becoming a producer of world class varietal wines.
