"Deep ruby red/purple color. Trademark 'Larkmead' aromas of smoky minerals, black cherry and aromatics herbs. Complex notes of tea leaf and tar develop with aeration, framed by a subtle edge of toast and mocha. The palate follows the aromas with ripe black raspberry, cola and sweet thyme flavors. The wine shows great integration of its component parts and a harmony that typifies this unique Vineyard. The finish is long and pure with a sense of bittersweet chocolate and sleek tannins that offer mid-term cellar potential.
The 2005 LMV Salon follows the overriding theme of all our 2005 releases, that of cool climate aromatic complexity and finesse. The wine displays an elegant breadth and subtle sweetness that never becomes ponderous or heavy-handed, remaining fresh and lively to the end. More similar to the inaugural 2003 bottling rather than the larger-scaled 2004, the wine will continue to develop in both complexity and texture with three to four years cellaring."

"The 2005 LMV Salon Proprietary Red has a deep ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of spring flowers intermixed with black cherry, black currant, licorice, and pain grille. The wine is medium to full-bodied, has some chocolatey notes in the mouth, a good underpinning of acidity and tannin, and a long, dense, rich finish. This wine should be at its best between 2011 and 2025."
