"Bright, high-toned cherries and spice dominate the nose. The palate opens with fresh, ripe red fruits and minerals with smoky, dark chocolate notes and an edge of allspice. The tannins are soft, round and approachable, making this an early drinking wine with fine inner-mouth complexity and aromatic intrigue."

-- Andy Smith, Winemaker

"The 2003 Larkmead 60/40 is a wine of sophistication and elegance from one of the most historic Napa vineyards that many people have yet to discover. Pair this wine with lighter meats, roast game birds, meatier fish plates and cheese. This wine has an uncanny ability to make food taste better due to its higher acid profile. This is a perfect wine for people who want a red wine that works well with traditional white wine foods. Soft supple tannins and a dramatic red fruit profile will help liven up any chicken dish, grilled fish preparations and creamy to medium aged cheeses. The 60/40 is an agile performer that will out-step many a bigger, more overbearing California Cabernet."
