Tasting Room Is Open - April 22, 2006
Spring finally arrived at Larkmead -- signaling the end of a protracted, wet winter as well as the much anticipated completion of our brand new tasting room. We are now fully-approved for public tastings (by appointment only) between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, meaning that you can visit Larkmead and sample our wines in this beautiful room overlooking the actual vineyards where the grapes are grown. Please be sure to schedule a tasting with us when you next visit the Napa Valley by calling 707 942 0167 or by emailing roberta@larkmead.com.

Firebelle Society Opening Celebraton Event
It's been exactly 100 years since the last winery was built at Larkmead and we could not let this milestone pass by without a celebration. So, on Saturday, April 22nd, Firebelle Society members joined Cam and Kate Baker [pictured below], family members, and close friends to raise a glass (or two) and toast this significant achievement.

In addition to tasting our current release wines and special pre-releases (like the 2003 LMV Salon), guests were treated to '04 barrel samples poured by Winemaker, Andy Smith and his assistant, Julie Cooper. Judging by the purple teeth and happy faces emerging from the barrel room, this looks to be another excellent vintage for Larkmead. And in keeping with the Scottish influence that has pervaded past Larkmead events, a piper entertained the crowd with some rousing traditional tunes.

In his dedication speech, Cam thanked all who have worked hard on the project and the many supporters of Larkmead through the years. He also joked that "after this experience, it will be another 100 years before we build again!" But, based on the enthusiastic response to the new winery and tasting room, it definitely was worth the wait.
