2007 Auction Napa Valley Dinner

2007 Auction Napa Valley Dinner

We were delighted to host our first ever Auction Napa Valley (ANV) hospitality event "A Family Gathering at Larkmead" on Friday, June 8th, 2007. Sixteen ANV patrons joined Winemaker Andy Smith, his wife Karen, and owners Cam and Kate Solari Baker for an Italian-themed dinner to honor Bruno "Larry" and Polly Solari, who purchased the Estate in 1948. Larry was born in Lucca, Italy and so the menu featured authentic Tuscan regional specialties similar to what they would have been served by the Solaris "at the ranch". We also debuted our newest white wine, the 2006 Tocai Friulano, made from an Italian varietal grape that is harvested off the oldest vines on the property.

In addition to the delicious meal highlighted by homemade goat cheese ravioli in sage browned butter sauce and a mixed grill of lamb, rabbit, and quail, guests were treated to wines including Larkmead Vineyards 2006 Sauvignon Blanc, 1999 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2001 Solari Reserve. The meal was topped off with an Italian cheese course (paired with 2004 LMV Salon) and a flourless hazelnut chocolate cake with homemade espresso gelato all prepared by talented local Chef, Adam Goldring.

Kate Solari Baker shared anecdotes about her parents Larry and Polly and provided a brief history of Larkmead from the late 40s to the present. Adding to the festive atmosphere, was the Michele Corino Trio who performed authentic Italian folk songs on accordion, clarinet, and mandolin. As the stars came out in the clear night sky, guests drifted off to ready themselves for another full day of ANV excitement.
